The International Conference FIRST, Forum in Research, Science, and Technology, is an annual international conference organized by Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya. This conference provides opportunities for academic pioneers, researchers, scientists, professionals, and students to interact and exchange ideas, experiences, and expertises in emerging topics pertaining to engineering, science, computer science, Information communications technology and social science. The FIRST international conference also has been dedicated to the enhancement of the current research issues, industry’s needs, and government regulatory policy.
At the beginning, FIRST was a national conference, and then it becomes international in 2018. Besides the objectives that have been asserted earlier, the FIRST international conference also propose new and innovative technology and discuss future solutions at international level by bringing together experts from various multinational countries. This referred condition was represented by the keynote speakers at FIRST International Conference.
This year, the 5th FIRST 2021 international conference invited submission of full paper from the special issues of Covid-19 research: Health, Technology, Economical Effect, was held in Palembang, South Sumatera, Indonesia, on October 20-21, 2021. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 5th FIRST 2021 international conference also has been held using electronic conference or virtual conference. At least one of the accepted paper author had to register and presented his work at the conference. At the end of the conference, the committee selected the best papers and the best presenters, and announced the awards. Those accepted papers, after proper registration and presentation, published in the International Conference Proceedings Series by Atlantis Press and will be submitted for indexing by Web of Science.

- Dr. Ing. Ahmad Taqwa, the Director of State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya.
