POLSRI STUDENTS PROVIDE CLEAN WATER FOR VILLAGE RESIDENTS

A total of 13 Sriwijaya State Polytechnic students led by Indra Faris Atmaja (Civil Engineering 2019) made a breakthrough to help the community. Synergy and cooperation with the residents of Kenten Laut Village, Banyuasin, South Sumatra, they do. At first they saw the residents of Kenten Laut Village who had difficulty with clean water. Residents have only relied on cloudy river water for bathing and washing clothes. As for drinking water, they have to buy it, because the water is not fit for consumption. They have long hoped for the local government, but because the location of the village is quite far from the district capital, PDAM has not yet reached their village.

Faris and his friends then met, discussed with village officials and community representatives. As a result, they agreed that residents should get clean water, so a proposal was made to solve the problem. The proposal was also included in the competition for the Village Community Empowerment Program (P2MD) of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology in 2021. Thank God, Bak gayung welcomed this proposal which was then approved by the assessment team for further implementation this year. To ensure this activity goes well, the Sriwijaya State Polytechnic appointed Mrs. Anggi Nidya Sari, ST, M.Eng who is also a lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department of the Indonesian Polsri as a supervisor for this activity. Ahmad Zamheri as the deputy director for student affairs expressed his pride for the concern and achievements of the Polsri students. Students today are required to be able to synergize with the community to solve all problems. So that government programs for the welfare of the community will be realized more quickly.
