Sriwijaya State Polytechnic in preparing for the establishment of the Applied Master Program in Renewable Energy Engineering had one more technical assistant, Edwin Friedel Rocker, from Germany SES with expertise in the field of biogas and biodiesel. The assistance was from 23 February to 24 March 2016. The participants were lecturers in Chemical Engineering Department, Candidate Lecturers of Applied Master Program in Renewable Energy Engineering and lecturers of related studies.
The activities during the assistance among other were public lecture on Biomass energy includes biomass energy conversion applied in Germany and a visit to the Biogas Plant in Sukawinatan Garbage Collection and Disposal Site. The second activity was for observing the process of production of biogas from city garbage and its power generator. The third activity was workshop in the field of biogas and biodiesel. This activity resulted in a biogas tool design with a digester system incorporated two control systems and biodiesel tool design by esterification and transesterification process.
Informatics Management Department, a department that focuses on Information Technology, has long made effort in order to up grade the quality of human resources in teaching, doing research and conducting social responsibility. Among the efforts is upgrading the quality of comprehension in science of software development in cooperation with SES from German. From 17th of February to 11th of March 2016, Informatics Management Department conducted training in Software Engineering. This training was part of cooperation between Polsri and SES to up grade the quality of human resource in Informatics Management Polsri. The Technical Assistant from SES for this training was Dr. Fanco Mirallas, an expert in Java Programming and Software Engireeng and also lecturer of Computer Science in Roseheim University. He is also a consultant in Software Engineering. The participants were not only lecturers from Informatics Management but also lecturers from Computer Engineering Departmant. It was expected that the involvement of lecturers from other department could result in better comprehension on the materials. The topic of training by Dr. Franco Miralles was Object Oriented Analysis and Design. Dr. Franco Miralles explained about system engineering at the beginning of the training. Dr. Franco highlighted the importance to understand the system of the place where the software being developed in the first place, followed by understanding business process of the system. To describe the business process, Dr. Fanco used Use Case diagram. One of the important material in business process analysis is requirement engineering. Understanding requirement engineering of user and stakeholder is important since it is the base of software development.
During his stay in Informatics Management Department, Dr Franco Miralles also gave some input for Informatics Management curiculum both for D3 program and D4 program. Dr Franco suggested the utilization of computer application for business/companies (Computer Engineering) for D3 program and IT Management for D4 program starting from basic syntax of programming to algoritm analysis of program. In the Academic Year 2016/2017, State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya starts recruiting students for Applied Master Program of Renewable Energy Engineering. The curriculum, facilties and human resource are already prepared. The curriculum design involved Senior Expert in the field of renewable energy engineering from SES Germany, Prof. Dr. Werner Rammensee, Technical Assitance for curriculum design was conducted from 5 January to 2 February 2016. The technical assistance was addressed for broadening insight and skill of faculty of Applied Master Program Renewable Energy Engineering State Polyteechnic of Sriwijaya. The main purpose of this assistance was for making sure that the curriculum, syllabus and lesson plan suitable with nastional and international standard. Human resources for this program are from Department of Chemical Engineerin, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. Topics being discussed in this program covered Biomass Energy Technology, Biomass Energy Conversion Laboratory, Solar Energy Technology, Solar Energy Conversion Laboratory, Wind Energy Technology, Wind Energy Conversion Laboratory, Renewable Energy Resources, Socio-economic and Environmental, Modelling and Simulation, Advanced of Thermodynamic Advanced of Heat and Mass Transfer, Energy Efficiency, Research Methodology and Scientific Writing. State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya, Sunday 23rd August, 2015 was the most memorable day for three young and attractive Cambodian girls, Chan Dana, David Sophea and Kuo Keopisey who successfully managed their Bachelor Degree. It took them around one and half year to complete their study in Public Sector Accounting State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya. On their graduation day coming also Mr. Ith Vuthy from SEAMOLEC as the representative of Cambodian Government to say few words of gratitude to State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya in particular and Indonesia Government in general. Palembang, 28 August 2015, 6 (six) Polytechnic Malaysia visited State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya (Polsri). The representatives of 4 (four) out of the 6 (six) Polytechnic Malaysia: Polytechnic of Seberang Perai, Polytechnic of Metro Tasek Gelugor, Polytechnic of Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah, and Polytechnic of Balik Pulau signed Letter of Intent (LoI) with State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya. This LoI was addressed for strengthening friendship and cooperation in academic area in order to generate graduates that can fill industrial job market demand. It is expected that this activity will be followed by Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in near future. Along with this visit, Polytechnic Malaysia also paid visit to Musholla Al-Amin di Kelurahan Karang Anyar – the result of Community Service Activity of Polsri Student Organization, to Panti Asuhan Pelangi and to Museum Al-Quran Raksasaon Thursday, 27 August 2015. June 9, 2015 Berita EA Congratulation! Once again student of Polsri got prestigious achievement in International level. Helen Nur Qodaria, the student of public sector accounting (DIV) program of Polsri, was chosen as the delegation of Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program to Japan. Helen is the only representative from South Sumatera Province to join the program. The program will be from October to December 2015. Before Helen, Reksa Alvionita, student of Electrical Engineering Department, was chosen as representative for student exchange program to Southeast Asia and Japan in 2014. Beside Helen, there is also Zalika Fajrin, student of English Department. She was chosen as one of participants in Nusantara Ship 2015 program. This program is addressed for young Indonesians who love travelling to study about Indonesian Culture for about a month. The participants of this program will be in Indonesian National Army Warship for a month. Helen and Zalika joined the selection chaired by Youth and Sport Ministry in cooperation with South Sumatera Youth and Sport Office in last April and May.
