Webometrics is a ranking system for the world’s universities based on a composite indicator that takes into account both the volume of the Web contents (number of web pages and files) and the visibility and impact of these web publications according to the number of external inlinks (site citations) they received.

Vice Director for Cooperation and Development State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya, DR Ing Ahmad Taqwa M.T. explained that one of the indicator in this survey is the number of content in university website which is cited by other universities like information or research jurnal.

“Other indicator is the total number of website visitors in one period,” he continued. The adjustment is based on the domain of the related university in first page of google search result.

The visitors of Polsri’s website for this year are 62,874 comprising 20,934 visitors in January, 27,751 visitors in February and 14.189 visitors from 1 to 11 March.

Nevertheless it is not the main indicator. The main indocator of Webometrics is the web content cited by visitors.
